If you're prone to feeling every gust of wind and chilly breeze then you're already well-acquainted with how to layer clothes in order to match the weather. However this season's hottest new trend takes layering to a whole new level. There are few rules; as long as you can see each layer beneath the next you're basically good to go. Remember that episode of Friends where Joey wears all of Chandler's clothes? If you reach this point you've probably gone too far. To give some guidance on how to layer clothes successfully this season we've put together 3 tips to help you along the way.

Layer your Dress

This year dresses are perfect for layering. Whether you choose a chunky knit dress over a floaty dress or a smart pencil dress over a long sleeved fine knit paired with big boots you can extend the season for your summer dresses and look right on point. The ‘drousers’ look is the biggest look for clothes layering this year – that’s right wearing a dress over trousers. Be sure to pick a midi dress or one with a deep slit so that you can see the trousers beneath and don’t think you have to opt for skinny jeans – loose jeans can look equally as cool with the right midi dress.

Layering during the summer

If you thought that summer meant eschewing layers you’re wrong. Layer up a maxi dress over a lightweight t-shirt for a cute daytime look. The best way to layer a maxi dress is by pairing it with a denim jacket or a cardigan. If you want to wear the dress as a skirt you can pair it with a crop top or a tank top.

Layering During the winter

One of the best ways to keep warm in colder weather is to layer your clothes. This means wearing a base layer such as a long-sleeved shirt followed by a middle layer such as a sweater or light jacket. You can then top this off with a coat or heavier jacket. This will provide you with three levels of warmth allowing you to adjust as the temperature changes.
